About Artist Anne Mortimer
British artist Anne Mortimer is recognized as one of the world’s finest contemporary painters of cats and is renowned for the many children’s books she has published. Anne has been a professional artist and illustrator for more than 30 years. She studied Natural history illustration at Dyfed College of Art in Carmarthen, Wales. in addition to her impressive collection of cat paintings, Anne is also an accomplished painter of birds and botanicals, as well as florals and gardens.
Anne is a full member of the Society of Botanical Artists. She also won an honorable mention from the Society of Miniature Painters for her work. She has exhibited with the Society of illustrators U.S.A., (Best Children’s Books of the Year 2002/2003), Bonhams Auction house, London; The royal Miniature Society, and the Society of Botanical Artists.
Anne’s images have been reproduced on products including: china, collector plates, tinware, needlecraft and stationery.
Since 1990 Anne has worked with book publishers Harper Collins and Hyperion Walt Disney. Her notable books include: A Pussycats Christmas and Sneakers the Seaside Cat with Margaret Wise Brown; Cats Sleep Anywhere with Eleanor Farjeon; A Kittens Year with Nancy Raines Day; Cat & Bear with Carol Greene; Kittycat & Lullaby with Eileen Spinelli; as well as Santa’s Snow Cat and The Lighthouse Cat with Sue Stainton.
